Global Payment Providers
Based on your needs e.g. MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) or unattended sale payments and our experience of integrating sites with eCommerce gateways, we will recommend a suitable payment provider (e.g. BIBIT, Cybersource, PayPal, The 3rd Man or Commidea).

Bibit Global Payment Services is a Payment Service Provider offering various European payment methods, in addition to credit cards, such as payment methods based on online banking (example: iDEAL in The Netherlands). By using one technical connection to Bibit, merchants can accept most of these payment methods in various countries and currencies.

In 2004 RBS acquired Bibit to form part of online payment services.

CyberSource supports the processing of payments safely and in real-time, across multiple currencies and multiple sales channels, including Web, MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) and IVR (Interactive Voice Response). They allow our online retail clients to accept payment types preferred by their customers, including universal/local cards, bank transfer, direct debit and PayPal. Designed to enable local and global payments, CyberSource payment solutions work effectively across multiple sales channels, including Web, MOTO and IVR. CyberSource offers a single interface to the global payment network, supporting multiple payment types including global bank cards, country-specific cards, bank transfers and direct debit.

IVR is short for Interactive Voice Response, a telephony technology in which someone uses a touch-tone telephone to interact with a database to acquire information from or enter data into the database. IVR technology does not require human interaction over the telephone as the user's interaction with the database is predetermined by what the IVR system will allow the user to access. For example, banks and credit card companies use IVR systems so that their customers can receive up-to-date account information instantly and easily without having to speak directly to a person. IVR technology is also used to gather information, as in the case of telephone surveys in which the user is prompted to answer questions by pushing the numbers on a touch-tone telephone. Some companies also adopt IVR to allow customers to pay for products and services.

PayPal is an eCommerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as cheques and money orders.

PayPal performs payment processing for online merchants, for which it charges a fee. PayPal may also charge a transaction fee for receiving money (a percentage of the amount sent plus an additional fixed amount). The fees charged depend on the currency used, the payment option used, the country of the sender, the country of the recipient, the amount sent and the recipient's account type.

Card fraud is in the news on a daily basis. On a positive note, Chip and PIN is having a marked effect in reducing fraud perpetrated in shops. Sadly this fraud is already migrating to CNP (Card Not Present) channels such as call centres and the internet. Fraud can be prevented by using effective screening into the fulfilment process. 20:20 Technology uses the Fraud Prevention Solution from The 3rd Man which provides a comprehensive screening service for our clients, using all available data to determine:

  • Who is buying, can they be trusted?
  • What are they buying, is this reasonable?
  • Where is it being delivered, does it exist?
  • How are they paying?

Online retailers can therefore reliably assess the risks inherent in their transaction data with the knowledge that fraud will be reliably identified and chargebacks prevented.
